Defra’s recently published Environmental Improvement Plan sets out actions to help “restore nature, tackle environmental pollution, and increase the prosperity of our country.” Two areas of focus in it are that of habitat restoration and creation and species abundance and extinction risk. We look at farming practices that help boost biodiversity - particularly through crop diversification and increasing genetic diversity, and creating wildlife-rich habitats.
