To quote the Gaia Foundation's Seed Sovereignty Programme, “…seed diversity is threatened, and yet it is critical for ensuring a secure and resilient food system that serves both people and planet. At a time of climate crisis, there has never been greater urgency to protect and restore global seed diversity.” We explore seed choice and crop management against a backdrop of loss of diversity, including the impacts of genetic uniformity on areas such as pests and diseases, and potential for varieties to adapt to specific conditions.
